How buyers search

What people ask AI about hotels and resorts.

Hotel answers combine location, amenities, price, reviews and policies. Online travel agencies, review sites and travel media are frequent sources, so a complete, accurate property site and consistent listings matter. Many travelers ask with filters already in mind, such as pets, parking or the total nightly price, so a missing or conflicting detail can remove a property from the shortlist.

Common gaps

Where AI answers go wrong for hotels and resorts.

Most gaps are not a ranking problem. They come from missing, conflicting or out-of-date information that the answer engines repeat.

Amenities missing on OTA listings

Online travel agency listings often carry an incomplete amenity set, missing an EV charger, a heated pool or a pet policy added after the listing was built. Assistants that read Booking.com or Expedia may leave you out of filter-based prompts or say a feature is unavailable. Your own site can correct this only if it states each amenity plainly.

Fees and total price unclear

Resort fees, parking charges and pet fees are often buried in booking terms or shown only at checkout. Answers to prompts like is there a resort fee then repeat a guess from a review, an old forum post or a third-party listing. Travelers who find a different total later lose trust, and the review they write keeps the confusion alive.

Vague distances and location claims

Phrases like steps from downtown or minutes to the airport do not answer the questions travelers ask. Assistants prefer concrete distances and walking or shuttle times, and they find them on travel blogs and competitor pages. A property that really is the closest to the convention center can be passed over because no page says how close it is.

Where to start

The first three changes, in order.

Order matters. Each step makes the next one easier for AI systems to read and trust. Your preview or first month confirms whether this order fits your business.

  1. 01

    State fees and policies clearly

We start with the facts travelers filter on and complain about: mandatory fees, parking, pets, check-in times and accessibility. These come first because wrong answers here cost bookings and lead to unhappy reviews. Clear, consistent statements on your site also support the total-price display the FTC’s fee rule requires for short-term lodging.

  2. 02

    Sync listings and amenities

Next we bring Google Business Profile, Google Hotels data and OTA listings into line with the property site. Once your own pages are accurate, consistent listings reduce the chance of an assistant choosing an outdated version. This step comes second because listings should copy a correct source, not the other way round.

  3. 03

    Write location and room detail

Third, we add real distances to the places guests ask about, plus room pages with beds, views, occupancy and accessibility features. This content answers trip-purpose prompts, such as walking to a venue or a family suite with a kitchen. It comes last because detailed pages help most when the basics are already right.

Accuracy rules

How we keep hotels and resorts accurate and compliant.

AI answers repeat what they find. Every claim we publish is one your business can stand behind, and your team approves each change before it goes live.

  • Total prices, including mandatory fees, are shown as the FTC’s fee rule requires for short-term lodging.
  • Accessibility features are described specifically and accurately, room by room where they differ.
  • Review responses stay factual and never share guest details.

Worked example

One question, start to finish.

Illustrative only: Saguaro Lantern Inn, a fictional boutique hotel is a fictional business, and no client data is shown.

The question
“Pet-friendly hotels within walking distance of the convention center with no resort fee”
What the answers showed
Answers named two large chain hotels, a vacation-rental listing and a travel blog’s neighborhood guide. Saguaro Lantern Inn appeared once, described as not pet-friendly, which matched an old OTA listing. Its site said only that it was close to downtown, with no walking time, and its pet fee and lack of a resort fee appeared only in the booking terms.
What we changed
We added a pet policy page with fees, weight limits and pet-friendly room types, described the walking route and time to the convention center, and put a total-price note on room pages. We updated the Google Business Profile and OTA listings to match, and added Hotel markup with pet policy and check-in times.
What the next measurement checks
The next measurement re-runs the pet-friendly and convention-center prompts, and checks whether answers describe the pet policy correctly, state the fees accurately and link to the inn’s own site rather than an online travel agency.

Questions

AI SEO for hotels and resorts: common questions.

Can AI SEO increase direct bookings?

It can make your own site a stronger source in AI answers, which gives travelers a direct path to book. We measure how often answers link to you rather than an online travel agency, and how many of those visits come through to your booking engine where your analytics can track it.

What should we fix first?

The facts travelers filter on: fees, parking, pets, accessibility and distances. Wrong or missing details here cost the most, because they decide whether you make the shortlist at all and whether the stay matches what the guest expected. We check these across your site and listings before writing anything new.

Do you work with hotel groups?

Yes. Property data and pages are managed as one system, with shared templates for policies and amenities and room for what makes each property different. Each property is measured in its own market, against the prompts travelers ask about that destination, so one strong hotel does not hide gaps at another.

Should we keep listing on online travel agencies?

For most properties, yes. OTAs reach travelers you might not reach otherwise, and AI answers read them. The aim is not to leave them but to make sure they match your site, and that your site is the most complete source. Answers then have a reason to link to you, and OTA guests still get accurate details.

How do resort fees affect AI answers?

Travelers ask directly whether a hotel charges a resort fee. If the fee is unclear, answers repeat what reviews or listings say. The FTC’s rule on unfair or deceptive fees requires short-term lodging to show the total price, including mandatory fees, upfront. We state fees plainly on your site and listings so answers have one consistent fact to repeat.
