How buyers search

What people ask AI about healthcare practices.

Health questions are high-stakes, so AI systems lean on sources they trust: practice and hospital sites with clear authorship, physician directories, insurance networks and reviews. Practices that show who wrote and reviewed their content, and which plans they accept, are easier to recommend.

Sources

Where AI answers about healthcare practices come from.

Answers are assembled from sources. We find the ones your market relies on and make sure your business is accurate in each.

  1. 01

    Provider and service pages

Your pages for each provider, condition, treatment and location.

  2. 02

    Physician directories

Healthgrades, Zocdoc, WebMD Care, Vitals and Doximity profiles.

    Insurance directories

Health plans’ provider search tools, which answers use to confirm network status.

    Business Profiles and reviews

Hours, locations, services and patient reviews.

  5. 05

MedlinePlus and health-system libraries, which shape answers to general health questions.

Common gaps

Where AI answers go wrong for healthcare practices.

Most gaps are not a ranking problem. They come from missing, conflicting or out-of-date information that the answer engines repeat.

Providers listed at the wrong location

Answers often place a physician at a clinic they left two years ago, or describe a retired provider as accepting patients. The cause is usually directory data. Healthgrades, Doximity and insurer directories each hold their own copy of provider records. When a practice updates only its website, assistants find the older version repeated across several sources and treat it as the stronger signal.

Insurance answers built on old lists

When a patient asks whether a practice takes their plan, assistants piece the answer together from insurer search tools, third-party directories and any plan list on the practice site. If that list is a scanned PDF, sits on a page nobody has updated in years or uses old plan product names, answers either guess or leave the practice out of plan-specific recommendations.

Specialty care described too broadly

A group that performs ACL reconstruction, sports medicine and joint replacement may show up only as a general orthopedics practice, because no page covers each condition and procedure on its own. ChatGPT and Google AI Overviews answer specific questions with specific sources. Without a procedure page that names the surgeons who perform it, answers tend to cite hospital systems or larger groups instead.

The work

What we change for healthcare practices.

Provider profiles that agree everywhere

Credentials, board certification, specialties, languages, locations and hospital affiliations, consistent on your site and every directory.

Condition and treatment pages

Clear pages for the conditions you treat and procedures you perform, written for patients and reviewed by your clinicians.

Access details

Accepted plans, new-patient status, referral needs and booking options, kept current on every page and profile.

Directory reconciliation

Matching provider and location data across Healthgrades, Zocdoc, insurer directories and Business Profiles.

Structured data

MedicalClinic and Physician markup that mirrors what each page already shows.

Where to start

The first three changes, in order.

Order matters. Each step makes the next one easier for AI systems to read and trust. Your preview or first month confirms whether this order fits your business.

  1. 01

    Fix provider and location records

We start with the facts every answer depends on: which providers practice where, their specialties, credentials and new-patient status. These records feed directories, insurer tools and Business Profiles, so an error here repeats in every answer. Correcting them first also means later content work points patients toward information that is already right.

  2. 02

    Publish current access details

Next come accepted plans, referral requirements and booking options, written as text on each location and provider page rather than in PDFs. Patients often ask about coverage before they ask about anything else, and assistants filter recommendations by plan. Once provider records are clean, these details can be attached to the right people and places.

  3. 03

    Build condition and procedure pages

With the facts in place, we write pages for the conditions and procedures that matter most to your appointment mix, each reviewed by a named clinician. This comes third because a strong procedure page only helps if the surgeon it names is listed correctly and the plans it mentions are current.

Accuracy rules

How we keep healthcare practices accurate and compliant.

AI answers repeat what they find. Every claim we publish is one your business can stand behind, and your team approves each change before it goes live.

  • Medical content names a clinical reviewer and shows a review date.
  • Review responses never confirm that someone is a patient or discuss their care, in line with HIPAA.
  • Treatment pages describe benefits and risks plainly and leave outcomes to the consultation.

Worked example

One question, start to finish.

Illustrative only: Cedar Hollow Orthopedic Group is a fictional business, and no client data is shown.

The question
“Which orthopedic surgeons near Cedar Hollow do ACL reconstruction and take Aetna?”
What the answers showed
Answers named two hospital-owned sports medicine programs and a regional group with detailed procedure pages. Cedar Hollow appeared in one answer, described only as a general orthopedics practice. Another answer listed a surgeon who had moved out of state, drawn from an older directory profile. No answer mentioned the group’s Aetna participation, which appeared only in a PDF.
What we changed
We corrected the departed surgeon’s records on Healthgrades, Doximity and the group’s Business Profile, and asked the insurer to update its directory. The accepted-plans PDF became a text section on each location page. A new ACL reconstruction page named the surgeons who perform it, explained the recovery steps in plain terms and showed a clinical reviewer and review date.
What the next measurement checks
The next measurement re-runs the same ACL and insurance prompts in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. It looks at whether the departed surgeon still appears, whether Aetna participation is stated and which page is cited for the procedure.

Measurement

How progress is measured.

  • Mentions and recommendations by specialty and location.
  • Whether answers state your accepted plans and new-patient status correctly.
  • Appointment requests by service line, where your scheduling data allows.

Questions

AI SEO for healthcare practices: common questions.

How is AI SEO different for healthcare?

Health topics get extra scrutiny from search systems, and AI assistants are cautious about which sources they repeat. Clear authorship, a named clinical reviewer, accurate provider data and consistent directory listings carry more weight than in most industries. So the early work is often about facts and trust signals before it is about new content.

Can you work with our compliance team?

Yes. Medical content, provider bios and review-response templates go through the reviewers you name, whether that is a compliance officer, a medical director or both. Each approval is recorded with a date, and nothing goes live until it is signed off. We describe how we work; your counsel and compliance team decide what your practice can say.

We have many locations and providers. Where do we start?

With the specialties and markets that drive the most appointments. Provider and location data comes first, because errors there spread to every answer that mentions you. After that we work through service lines in order of priority, and each location is measured in its own market so gaps are easy to see.

How do you handle patient reviews without risking HIPAA problems?

We help you ask for reviews in a steady way and write response templates that never confirm someone is a patient or mention their care, even when the reviewer shares details first. Responses stay general and invite the person to call the office. Reviews always come from real patients, in line with FTC rules on reviews and endorsements.

We already work with a marketing agency. Can you work alongside them?

Yes. Many practices keep an agency for paid search, social or their website, and we focus on how AI answers describe the practice. We share our findings and the data corrections we make, and agree who owns which pages and profiles so changes do not overlap. If your agency manages Business Profiles, we coordinate updates through them.
